2001: What is out there? An Informal Talk by Kier Dullea — 4 Comments
Yes, Laura, thanks for putting up this link. It’s another good advance to what Clarke and especially Kubrick’s ideas about the infinite, infinite universe were.
2001 Space Odyssey and Dr. Zhivago were the only movies that took me multiple viewings to complete. I would nod off about half way trhough each one and wake up when the lights came back on. The second time I went, I kept checking my watch at 15 minute intervals so I could keep track of what time to come in for the third viewing. Repeated that process during the third viewing and finally saw the ending on the 4th viewing.
Dr. Z was the first time a movie was filmed in “real time.” That means the time it took for them to ride half way across the continent on horseback in the movie was the exact amount of time it atually would take to do it in “real time.”
