The Case of the Haunted Car: Mystery Solved
My husband got up to go to work at 4 o’clock this morning. He opened the garage door and noticed that the car had all the windows and sunroof open all the way. Nothing was taken. You need to key in a combination to get into the garage. He called the police on the way to work, but they just said to let them know if anything was taken (LoL!). All the other cars parked nearby in the complex either outside or garaged were not effected. My husband just drove to work.
I decided to Google the mystery to try to make sense of what happened. “all my cars doors and sun roof were found open…” I actually got some answers from some public forums: if you hold the unlock button down for a few seconds on the key fob, all the windows will roll down and the sunroof will open. I believe this is designed as a cool down convenience feature. Not sure if that was the case, but he may have tripped that feature without knowing it. Still, it is embarrassing that the dealer didn’t at least mention this possibility to us.
Maybe he had it pressed in his pocket? I called my husband at work and told him. He thinks I’m a genius.
So when he left work this afternoon, he held down the unlock button, and voila! all the windows rolled down and the sunroof opened.
We had the car many years and this never happened before.
Case closed.

They didn’t even seem concerned whether or not the car might’ve been vandalized.

Cool that you figured it out. I don’t know what possessed me to use Google. Sure comes in handy sometimes. It just seemed to be too weird to be a vandalism. The garage was locked when this happened.
