CreARTive Sunday 04/27/08: Miniature Oil Paintings
Isn’t it amazing how tiny these paintings are ? Some can fit in the palm of your hand, and others are even smaller !
In my collection, the smallest I have are about 4 inches long.
Some I have displayed on a small easel that I got from an antique store. Others, like the ones I’m showing below, I have hanging on my bathroom walls.
Some of my paintings I bought at local gift shops, some come from decorating shops, and others came from local art shows in my area.
These are just a few of mine:

Did you paint the lower ones yourself? Very beautiful. My favorite of those up in the slide show – and there are several I really like – is the one with the sprinkling can in it. Neat to see the coins next to some of them to show how really little they are.

Lovely! I would love to see them in person!

skeezicks, no I’m not the artist of any of these paintings. I merely collect them. I met one of the artists at a neighborhood art show, and she signed the back of them, but over the years, her signature faded and I am not in touch with the artists.

Beautiful, it reminds me of the little things we overlook in our lives. The pace of our world has been to make bigger, faster, and better. So much can be said about those paintings, not much larger than a computer chip. But when we look at what the computer chip holds it is the wonder of wonders.

Can you imagine the precision and focas it takes to create something so beautifully small ?

He lived quite close to our house and was in my school year, the slightly sad part was that he was and still is dyslexic, back in the early 70`s the condition was not recognised and accepted in the way that it is today, he was considered slightly “slow” by the teachers….. I guess that with an MBE and millions of pounds in his bank account he now has the last laugh…..

Yes, he certainly does have tha last laugh. How did he make the figures so small ? The tools he used must have been unique. Probably like the kind a jeweler uses.
