Art Sunday 05/10/09: Annie Haslam of Renaissance
“It’s very exciting to be able to share my new love of oil painting with you. Color and sound are one of the same, so in my case, my art is a continuation of my singing displayed on canvas. I have no preconceived ideas and the final outcome is always a wonderful surprise.
“One way to describe my paintings is to think about a song that soars to great heights and then swoops down low. It is vibrant and colorful and moves swiftly through mysterious moods into intense brightness, as soft as a whisper, tranquil like a stream or as bold as a snow covered mountain.
“I believe the inspiration comes from deep within me from deep inside the earth and far out in the universe. I love to paint as I love to sing ! As the sound and colors of love, light and peace.” – Annie Haslam
Missing Link
Stream of Conciousness
Cat’s Playground
Ocean Jewel
Nesting
Might of Wisdom
Celtic Morning
Wakening Spring
In the seventies, Renaissance was an English progressive rock band that had a pretty successful career. They were very unique because they had a sound that was folk-rock that they fused with classical overtones. The lead singer was Annie Haslam.
This blog is dedicated to my Multiply online buddy, Doug, who revived my interest in the rock group, Renaissance. After doing some research on the band, not only did I discover that there were many musical accomplishments that I was unaware of, but that Annie Haslam is also an artist. A great one, too !

Never heard of her, but the paintings are nice. I like wakening spring best. Like her use of color and line.

Like that Ocean Jewel… sounds like a planet coming up behind the ocean instead of the sun or the moon.

Your Art and Expression is indeed captivating, have spent the morning enjoying every piece. Music does enhance an artist in thought, thank you for sharing your inspiration and exceptional gifts. “Missing Link”, interesting piece, can see a void within the art, but also see many things surrounding it, as if they were attempting to connect the missing link…the void.
“Stream of Conciousness”, definitive. A vessel of memory hosting small portions of concious thought, very nice and grasping, can actually see it flow if one looks long enough. “Cat’s Playground”, Love this exciting piece, the cat can see a mouse in the left corner, all it desires beyond, awaiting to choose which to pursue first. Busy piece of fun and intrigue. ” Ocean Jewel”, kept going back to that one..see many expressions. An island, yet of color unknown to the sea really, but holds such interesting thought. Can see a stream along the water where one has ventured there, could be man or fish …comforting piece. Could even be an unusual reflection of a setting sun, when one is at sea. A setting sun of color is similiar to an oasis in a desert….when twenty miles out drifting upon the water. “Nesting”, underwater views from this perspective, visual thoughts of many beneath the sea, can even see a mermaid…she awaits, her beauty rarely seen. “Might of Wisdom”, a perfect pearl within the oyster, always beautiful with fascination. Oysters are of interest indeed, and such a fine pearl produced can only lead one to see something rare in mystery. “Celtic Morning”, can relate to this piece, thank you. Exceptional. “Wakening Spring”, Yes indeed…when all that seemed dead is alive again. Spring brings forth color bright and hope to all, the most beautiful time of year. Nice.. Thank you so much for sharing such beautiful art, with your expression and inspiration for many to view and enjoy. Very impressive. Always, Your Friend Dyxie Dymond* L~. Fort Morgan Alabama |
