Poetry Wednesday: Found a Poem

Laura's Blogs Posted on November 27, 2012 by LauraNovember 27, 2012

Here is a poem I found while we were having a picnic at this table near Bear Moundtain, N.Y. The words were carved into the table, but it was very ledgable. The author and title of the poem is unknown. Untitled   clouds in a sky clear enough to allow them their form for miles a heavenly plain I recognized soon after the eyes of my mind became open. Still they permit me to see, and I admit their irrefutablility.

Little Mister gets a Christmas hat and scarf

Laura's Blogs Posted on November 27, 2012 by LauraNovember 27, 2012

What do you give a rabbit for Christmas ?  We thought maybe an extra large bushel of Timothy hay or an entire bag of Romaine lettuce. Then we found the perfect gift. A warm hand-made crocheted hat that even comes with a matching scarf and mittens, but he mostly loved the hat. They matched his eyes so beautifully ! We asked him if he could model them for us !        15 CommentsChronological   Reverse   Threaded delete reply sugarpiehuny wrote on Dec 9, ’08 … Continue reading →

Art Sunday 12/14/08: Ludwig Kirchner and the Berlin Street paintings

Laura's Blogs Posted on November 27, 2012 by LauraDecember 29, 2012

Five Women on the Street, 1913 Ludwig Kirchner Oil on canvas  This exhibition (no longer on display at The Museum of Modern Art) brings together German Expressionist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner’s renowned Street Scenes series, created between 1913 and 1915. I saw this exhibit a few week ago in New York City and I just loved the colors he used in these. Ernst Ludwig Kirchner (1880-1938), the subject of the MoMA exhibition “Kirchner and the Berlin Street,” is, in the greater scheme of 20th-century art, … Continue reading →

Art Sunday 03/01/09: Cool Paintings by Rock Stars

Laura's Blogs Posted on November 27, 2012 by LauraNovember 27, 2012

Left: Iggypop  Here’s a great article I found that I thought would be cool for Art Sunday of paintings by rock musicans. You usually hear about musicians who want to act, but what about musicians who want to paint? We were surprised to discover that more than a handful of rock stars had actually tried their hand at art, but not so surprised to find out that most of ‘em weren’t very good. But don’t take our word for it, see for yourself (click the … Continue reading →

Laura's Blogs Posted on November 27, 2012 by LauraNovember 27, 2012

The Lady of Shalott, 1888 John William Waterhouse Oil on canvas This painting is based on: The Lady of Shalott by Alfred Lord Tennyson. It illustrates the lines: And down the river’s dim expanse Like some bold seer in a trance, Seeing all his own mischance – With a glassy countenance Did she look to Camelot. And at the closing of the day She loosed the chain, and down she lay; The broad stream bore her far away, The Lady of Shalott.
