Laura's Blogs Posted on October 2, 2012 by LauraDecember 28, 2012

The First Jasmines by Rabindranath Tagore . o remember the first day when I filled my hands with these jasmines, these white jasmines. Yet my memory is still sweet with the first white … Continue reading →

Poetry Wednesday 01/28/09: Horse Latitudes

Laura's Blogs Posted on October 2, 2012 by LauraDecember 26, 2012

Horse Latitudes is the fifth song on the The Doors’ album, Strange Days. It is basically a recited poem by Jim Morrison, telling of a ship at sea forced to jetison the onboard horses in order to lighten their load. This is one of the first poems that Jim Morrison ever wrote. He was inspired by a book cover he saw at a book store as a child. Horse latitudes are sea- bound latitudes that provided fatal conditions for livestock aboard ships. The poem was based … Continue reading →

Robert Frost reciting a poem at the inauguration of John F. Kennedy On Januvary 20, 2009, the inauguration of Barack Obama will be a day that will live forever in American and world history. I began to think back to the inauguration of John F. Kennedy when Robert Frost recited a poem on that big day. Poetry Wednesday 12/17/08: The Most Beautiful Flower

Laura's Blogs Posted on October 2, 2012 by LauraNovember 7, 2012

The Most Beautiful Flower by Cheryl L. Costello-Forshey A 5th Portion of Chicken Soup for the Soul, and Stories for A Faithful Heart. And if that weren’t enough to ruin my day, A young boy out of breath approached me, all tired from play. He stood right … Continue reading →
